Resource type Numerical Reasoning Test
These PPT slides include information about the Numerical Reasoning test and sample questions. They have been designed to allow graduates to prepare for the test they may have to take during the job application process. This resource has been contributed under a Creative Commons licence to the mathcentre Community Project by Laura Hooke, Loughborough University London and reviewed by Dr Kinga Zaczek, Royal Holloway, University of London. It is one of a series of 17 resources produced by the sigma Network Employability Special Interest Group.
Resource type Nursing Medication Calculation Formulae
Formula sheet for nursing students including dosage, drop and infusion rates, unit conversion and BMI calculations contributed to the mathcentre Community Project by Shazia Ahmed, University of Glasgow. The leaflet is designed to be printed double-sided on A4 paper and folded into quarters lengthwise first.
Resource type Nursing Medication Calculation Formulae (SOURCE)
A zip file containing the source files for the Fact & Formula leaflet Nursing Medication Calculation Formulaef' contributed to the mathcentre Community Project by Shazia Ahmed, University of Glasgow and reviewed by Aiping Xu, University of Coventry.
Resource type Offering Training to Postgraduates who Tutor in Mathematics Support Centres
Tony Croft, Shazia Ahmed, Verity Aiken, Leslie Fletcher, Michael Grove, Andrew Mead, Chetna Patel, and Robert Wilson: (2013) Offering Training to Postgraduates who Tutor in Mathematics Support Centres. MSOR Connections 13(1), 3-7. DOI: 10.11120/msor.2013.13010003 This report summarises the deliberations which took place during a workshop held to discuss issues to consider when recruiting and training postgraduates to work in mathematics support centres. It distils the current wisdom of a group of mathematics support professionals with experience of managing and tutoring in mathematics support centres. There exists an active national network (the sigma network) for those involved in university mathematics and statistics support; this report concludes by identifying how members of the higher education community may participate in this network.
Resource type Open Learning Resource Centre at the University of Huddersfield
The Open Learning Resource Centre (OLRC) at the School of Computing and Mathematics, University of Huddersfield provides a quiet environment with seated study places for up to sixty students. The Centre originally operated from 8.30am to 4.30pm every day but that has now been extended to cater for the needs of part-time students. Every day a tutor provides a surgery on a one-to-one basis to answer questions posed in mathematics, statistics or operational research (MSOR). It was also commended by the QAA Visiting Panel during a recent Teaching Quality Assessment.
Resource type Parabolas
This extension video mathstutor shows practical applications of parabolas such as the transmission of radio waves. This resource is released under a Creative Commons license Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivative Works and the copyright is held by Skillbank Solutions Ltd.
Resource type Parallel forces acting together
In this leaflet we consider the resultant force when several parallel forces act.
Resource type Parametric differentiation
Instead of a function y(x) being defined explicitly in terms of the independent variable x, it is sometimes useful to define both x and y in terms of a third variable, t say, known as a parameter. In this unit we explain how such functions can be differentiated using a process known as parametric differentiation. (Mathtutor Video Tutorial) This resource is released under a Creative Commons license Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivative Works and the copyright is held by Skillbank Solutions Ltd.

Resource type Parliamentary debate - Tony McWalter
In this mathtutor extention video Tony McWalter MP discusses the relevance of studying quadratic equations. This resource is released under a Creative Commons license Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivative Works and the copyright is held by Skillbank Solutions Ltd.
Resource type Partial Differentiation Test 01 (DEWIS)
Four questions on partial differentiation. The first two involve finding the first and second partial derivative of a polynomial in x and y. The third involves finding a first partial derivative using the chain rule. The fourth involves finding a second partial derivative involving the product rule. DEWIS resources have been made available under a Creative Commons licence by Rhys Gwynllyw & Karen Henderson, University of the West of England, Bristol.
